New Dermal Anchors [Jul. 17th, 2007|08:12 pm]

On Saturday I found myself at the piercing shop in search of jewelry, but with the all together familiar itch for something new. I'd been considering a "cleavage" piercing for awhile--vertical with a surface bar, but I was quickly talked into two dermal anchors. I apologize for the poor quality/myspace-esque photos (but you can click to make them larger)!

I want a cleavage dermal anchor piercing, but they're illegal in Florida. :(
Where do you live?

Hm...

Probably could have stated that better...
What I mean when I say illegal is that it's illegal for piercers to do it, and that when I went to go get one the piercer said nobody in the state of Florida will do it (legally). Also he said that it was basically surgery (something like that) and that was the reason Florida banned piercers from doing it.

Re: Hm...

Now they're outlawing piercings.
Talk about "freedom of expression" in this country. ugh.

thanks for explaining =)

Re: Hm...

I dunno,
it sounds like they banned them cause it's dangerous to pierce, they are easy to reject and get infected.
not cause they don't like that particular piercing.

That looks very nice. Are they the 16 or 14 gauge ones? I'm 1 for three on surface anchors, but the one that has remained has held up through some serious abuse. It'd be awesome if you posted in a couple months with how it's healed. The one I had reject didn't start until it was well healed though. I had one just fall out in my sleep! Both those were the smaller gauge though.

I feel awful admitting this, but it slipped my mind to inquire about the gauges. They appear to be 16 to me!

I am keeping my fingers crossed that I don't experience any rejection. In the past my body has been extremely tolerant of piercings, even surface ones. I know it's a totally different area and procedure, but my nape has held up for atleast 2 years now. So, here's to hoping.

i think i like the dermal anchors much better than the surface piercings. every single surface sternum i've seen on people has rejected, and it looks bad bad bad. these (from what i can see), look great! i hope they work out for you.

So far I'm really digging my anchors. I'm keeping my fingers crossed that they don't reject.

I've never heard of dermal anchors before, but I just googled it and that is so cool! Do you know of any good educational websites on it? I couldn't find much informational, but they're beautiful.
